Barbara Krizo, 89, passed away Oct. 4, 2014 in Klamath Falls with family by her side. Vigil with holy rosary will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at 7 p.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial will be there at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, with Father Thuruthiyil officiating. Lunch will follow in the parish hall followed by interment at Malin Community Cemetery.
Barbara was born in Brawley, Calif., Feb. 2, 1925, to Albert and Mildred Young Farris. When she was 5, she moved to Klamath Falls with her family. She graduated from Klamath Union High School. She was musically talented, playing several musical instruments and singing; the family band played for dances in the Klamath Basin. At one of these dances, she met Philip Krizo, and they were married Jan. 16, 1944. In 1947, Philip won a Tulelake homestead, where they spent many years farming until they retired in 1983 and moved back to Klamath Falls.
Barbara was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother and 4-H leader for numerous years. She worked as a clerk for the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair for many years, as well as secretary for Sunny State Produce.
Barbara received her amateur radio license and enjoyed talking with people far and wide. She enjoyed the get-togethers of the ham radio clubs she belonged to. She also belonged to Elkettes, American Legion Auxiliary and Holy Cross Catholic Church and St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church altar societies.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, including trips to Europe and Hawaii, and they enjoyed many years of camping with the Good Sam Club. She especially enjoyed camping trips with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Dottie Silani and friend, Neil Westfall; son, David Krizo and dauhghter-in-law, Jacqui; granddaughter, Phaedra Krizo; grandson, Andy Silani and wife, Staphanie; grandson, Ira Krizo; great-grandsons, Will Krizo, Cody, Brandon and Trenton Silani, and Jonathan and Samuel Krizo; sister, Nadine "Dee" Cveticanin of Clarksville, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip, in 2011; her parents, brothers Bob, Donnie and Ivan Farris; and granddaughter, Gina Silani.
