Steve was born in South Bend, Indiana to Raymond and Ruthe (Tracy) Lund. He grew up in Michigan, and attended the University of Michigan. A passionate fan of the Wolverines, Steve was active in the Portland alumni club. Saturdays during football season were always reserved for UM football games. (Special thanks to the Wolverines for beating Ohio State this year.) After graduating with a degree in electrical engineering, Steve moved to California to work for Hewlett Packard. In Santa Rosa, CA, he met the love of his life and favorite dancing partner, Nancy Savonick. They married and had three awesome children. They lived in Sebastopol, CA until Tektronix made Steve an offer he couldn't refuse. After moving to Newberg, OR, Steve was instrumental in starting and maintaining a Friday potluck and wine group. The group grew as people brought in their friends, and their friends brought their friends. Many new friendships were formed thanks to Steve. Steve was also passionate about ham radio. Starting when he was ten years old, he enjoyed contacting other hams around the world. He was an avid bicyclist until recent years. In addition to cycling for fun, he rode in many 100-mile rides in CA and the Midwest. The culmination was the Davis Double, a 200-mile ride. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved cat, Jeremy. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Savonick; children Mandy Lund, Erik Lund, and Aleksei Lund (Mary Mathias); grandchildren Olivia Lund, Skylar Banuelos, and Mateo Banuelos; brothers Scott Lund and Rudy Lund and their families; and many friends.
