Resident of Los Gatos, Brad passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Long Beach, California, but his pre-university schooling was in Alameda, California.
From an early age Brad had a great thirst for knowledge and an enjoyment of life. Scouting was a passion, ultimately achieving the level of Eagle Scout. He also began his lifetime love of amateur (HAM) radio, from building and operating his own equipment to broadcasting through the internet from his PC.
Brad graduated from Stanford University in 1951 with a BA degree. He then went on to gain his MBA from the Stanford Business School in 1953. Brad and his wife Barbara (deceased) first met as sophomores at Stanford and were married on September 13, 1952.
After Stanford Brad and Barbara moved extensively, first to Everett, Washington, where Brad had duty in the USAF for 2 years. When Brad joined IBM in 1955 they moved to San Francisco. This was followed by IBM-initiated moves to Sacramento, Encino, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Los Gatos. He retired from IBM in 1984. They traveled extensively in Europe while living in Amsterdam. Other trips took them to many parts of the planet.
They bought a condo on Maui and took up snorkeling. They took snorkeling trips throughout the Pacific, Caribbean and in particular to the Galapagos Islands to see hammerhead sharks, equatorial penguins, and turtles.
Brad and Barbara were great supporters of Stanford and enthusiasts of Stanford athletics.
Brad was active in several groups: Kiwanis; The American Radio Relay League; Saratoga Men's Club; Various social groups including those for gourmet dinners, wine-tastings, and travel adventures.
Survivors include sons Andrew (Nancy) and David (Christine), grandsons Jeffrey and Patrick (Holly), granddaughters Joanna (Christopher McCormick) and Emily, and his faithful feline companion, Willow.
A celebration of life service for Brad will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015, at 3:00 PM at the Saratoga Foothill Club, located at 20399 Park Place, Saratoga, CA.
