The Eugene Register-Guard Lane County, Oregon Saturday, August 27, 2011 Earl Hemenway A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 1 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland for Earl E. Hemenway of Eugene, who died Aug. 20 of age-related causes associated with Alzheimer's disease. He was 88. He was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Portland to Earle and Margaret Galvin Hemenway. He graduated from Grant High School in Portland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Air Force in Korea. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a fire watch and fireman and as a conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad. Survivors include children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
