THOMAS G. SCHOONOVER, a winter resident of Fountain Hills from Beulah, MI. died peacefully January 2, 2013. Tom was born April 19. 1936, in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Ray and Ruth Schoonover.
He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 52 years; son, Doug (Lori) of Grand Haven, MI; daughter, Annette (David Lean) of Washington, D.C. and grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Schoonover.
Tom retired from Harris Corporation in 1995 after 30 years in broadcast sales.
Tom's life-long passion was Amateur Radio. He was a life member of the national association for Amateur Radio, ARRL. Tom was active in emergency communication, exemplifying the "best" in the hobby that exceeded that of his other passions, golf, music, and outstanding wines of the world.
Locally, Tom was active in The Club, Four Peaks Rotary and the Fountain Hills Coin Club. Memorial services were held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Sunday, January 6, 2013.
