Donald R. 'Don' Loesch, age 70, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 27, 1946 to Karl and Doris (Cordy) Loesch in Toledo. Don graduated from Maumee High School in 1964, and still enjoyed meeting weekly with classmates for meals. He graduated from the University of Toledo and was a member of Sigma Tau and went on to be an Electrical Engineer with Otis Elevator for 30 years before retiring. Don has been an active member of North Cape Yacht Club since 1964 and loved sailing. He also taught sailing and scuba diving. Don was an active member of the German Club on Lagrange, the Bavarian Benevolent Society and was a 55 year member of the QCWA HAM radio association. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering around in the house as well. Don loved traveling, and recently took a trip to San Francisco to sail the Bay with his two adopted brothers, Jimmy Britch and Dave Rome. He will be deeply missed by all, but especially his favorite sidekick, Jules, who went everywhere with him.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Judith; daughter, Meredith (Gregor) Braniger; son, Morgan Loesch; step-daughters, Jenny (Al) Carpenter and Mary Hammonds; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; brother, Richard (Lois) Loesch; sister, Ginny (Jerry) Kaminski; best friends, Mel Arndt, Jimmy (Linda) Britch and Dave (Liz) Rome; canine companion, Jules; many other family members and a host of dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter and son, Caleb.

A Celebration of Life for Don will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at North Cape Yacht Club, Toledo Beach Rd., LaSalle, MI. The Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.

I was inactive until my good friends, who were licenced in the 60's, encouraged me to become active in QCWA. I am now the president of the local chapter, #142, Northwest Ohio. The QTH radio is a Flex 6500 100 watt into a off set dipole at 30 feet
