William W. "Bill" Edwards Jr.
Mansfield - January 21, 2018: Now at home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, William W. "Bill" Edwards Jr. passed peacefully, at age 96, from his earthly home at Elmcroft of Ontario Senior Living Community.
Bill was born at home in California, Ohio, on April 28, 1921, to William W. and Mary (Ferriel) Edwards. He was raised in Lima, and attended Lima Central School. He enlisted in the Marines after the Pearl Harbor attack. He was stationed in the Pacific in the Samoa Islands and many bases in the U.S. working in the Signal Corp.
He retired from United Telephone in 1983 after working for telephone companies for 37 years. One of his favorite pass times was using his Ham Radio Station talking with people from all over the world. Bill was a member of First Alliance Church of Mansfield, American Legion Post # 265 in Wauseon, Ohio and several Wauseon community organizations.
Bill is survived by his and Mary's sons, William W. Edwards III of Spencerport, New York, Stephen K. and Mary Edwards of Mansfield; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William W. and Mary (Ferriel) Edwards, wife of 60 years, Mary A. (Amstutz) Edwards and his second wife of 6 years Neoma "Jean" Sanders Holly Edwards.
No visitation or services will be observed. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with his wife Mary at a later date.
