Harry William Aivalotis, 94
WHEELING-Aivalotis, Harry William, 94, of Wheeling , W.Va. died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born Jan. 28, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa. the son of the late John and Loretta Powelson Aivalotis and was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Wheeling, W.Va. where he was a member of the Joy Group, loved his church and was a person of faith. Harry was a retired Gas Measurement Supervisor for Columbia Gas Company.
He worked in five different states throughout his years with the company.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and loved his country. He never knew a stranger and loved his family and all the people he came in contact with. He loved to work whether around his home or his place of employment and for many years lovingly tended to the graves of his family. He also was known for his avid record keeping, having kept records of his family tree, his army days, Bello Vedere Association and events of his earlier life.
Harry was a ham radio operator and was a member of the Northern Panhandle Amateur Radio Club and the Triple States Radio Amateur Club. He was a member of the East Liverpool, Ohio American Legion Post #374 and a member of the Masonic Lodge #415 in East Liverpool, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, M. LaRue Frampton Aivalotis in 2004; his granddaughter, Erin Aivalotis; his brothers, Nick, Robert and Jack Aivalotis; his sisters, Gladys Hampson and Dorothy McCartney and his son in law, Stephen E. Seiferth.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda LaRue Seiferth and her husband Michael D. Pickering of Wheeling, W.Va.; his son, Ron Aivalotis and his wife, Cynthia of Macon, Ga.; a grandson, William Cole Aivalotis and a granddaughter, Megan Lee Aivalotis both of Macon, Ga.; several brothers in law and sisters in law and his extended family, George and Kathy Steber; Carrie (Clint) Steber Mahle and Cameron and Kendall.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Rd, Wheeling, W.Va. with the Reverend Judy Liston officiating. Interment will be in the Center Cemetery, Midway, PA.
