K8MZT, Shirley Ann Roos Rex, QCWA #16926 passed away May 7, 2005 in Scotch Plains, NJ where she had been living with one of her grand-daughters. Shirley was first licensed in 1958 and joined QCWA in 1983. Our condolences to her family. Devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away in Scotch Plains New Jersey May 7, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Canton, October 8, 1911, Shirley graduated from McKinley High School and resided in Canton until 2002. Shirley was co-owner of Rex's Heating and Air Conditioning Company with her husband, Charles J. Rex. Some of her life accomplishments include becoming a licensed pilot, concert pianist, amateur radio operator and member of YLRL. Using her amateur radio license she volunteered with the Civil Defense and American Red Cross. She served on the Board of Directors at the YWCA and was a devoted member of the Stark County Wilderness Center where she volunteered many hours of her time. She enjoyed playing contract bridge, watching the birds, tending her rose garden, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Adolph J & Sylvia Emma Richards Roos, her brother Ernst (Bud) J. Roos, her husband Charles J. Rex and her son Charles A. Rex all of Canton. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Donnelly of Scottsdale AZ, two grand daughters, Colette M. Rex of Scotch Plains NJ, and Armonde (Rex) Marker of Deer Park TX, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A celebration of her life and interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetary Chapel on July 23 at 10am. The Reverend John Mann officiating.
