Norman K. Medendorp, age 78, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at a local hospital.
Mr. Medendorp was born September 5, 1933 to Jacob and Teresa (Burns) Medendorp in Muskegon where he was a life resident. On April 20, 1974 he married Rosalie Dabrowski. He earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Tri State University and was employed as an engineer for General Telephone Company for 34 years, retiring in 1994.
Norm served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed Amateur Radio.
Norm is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosalie; 5 children, Michael (Karyn) Medendorp and their children, Samantha and Nathan, of Kalamazoo, Marc (Melissa) Medendorp and their children, Melia and Maelyn, Mary (B.J.) Bockheim and their child-to-be, and Anne (Chris) Schneller and their children, Joseph and Kaelan, all of Muskegon and Andrew (Kerry) Medendorp and their children, Claire and Catherine, of Kalamazoo; his sister, Geraldine Fulkrod of Muskegon; 2 brothers-in-law, Walter (Louann) Dabrowski and Joseph (Rebecca) Dabrowski; and 1 sister-in-law, Jeanne (Robert) LaCross.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vivian Durda; a brother, Robert Medendorp and a niece, Jane Ann Sepulveda.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel 737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
