Verle Doyle Winningham SEPTEMBER 30, 1935 - FEBRUARY 6, 2022 VERLE DOYLE WINNINGHAM, AGE 86, OF GRAND BLANC, MICHIGAN, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2022. VERLE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 30, 1935 IN DATTO, ARKANSAS, TO JAMES FRANKLIN WINNINGHAM AND MARGARET REBECCA LAMB. VERLE BRIEFLY ATTENDED COLLEGE AT ARKANSAS STATE COLLEGE, THEN MOVED TO FLINT, AND SUBSEQUENTLY EARNED HIS ASSOCIATE DEGREE FROM MOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGE. VERLE WORKED PROFESSIONALLY AS A COMPUTER-SYSTEMS ANALYST AT GM PARTS DIVISION IN SWARTZ CREEK, AND LATER AT GM'S EDS SUBSIDIARY. HE WAS ALSO A PROUD MEMBER OF SEVERAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING THE MASONIC LODGE AND THE ELF KHURAFEH SHRINE. BUT MOST NOTABLY, VERLE WAS A HIGHLY-ACCOMPLISHED AMATEUR RADIO OPERATOR, ATTAINING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF LICENSING AND OPERATOR PRIVILEGES. HE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE GENESEE COUNTY RADIO CLUB, AND WAS A LONG-TIME MEMBER AND OFFICER OF THE FIREBIRD AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, A FRATERNITY OF WORLDWIDE GM EMPLOYEES WHO SHARE THE HAM RADIO HOBBY. HIS K8VW CALL-SIGN CARDS HUMBLY EXTOLLED PEACE AND BROTHERLY LOVE, THROUGH AMATEUR RADIO. VERLE IS SURVIVED BY DELORES, HIS LOVING WIFE OF 42 YEARS, AND CHILDREN VERLE II (SHARON) WINNINGHAM, KATRINA WINNINGHAM, KENNETH (KAREN) WINNINGHAM, REBECCA GAREY, DEBRA KAMMER, KAREN O'NEILL, BRENDA FOURNIER, THOMAS (TERESA) WRIGHT, AND ANGELA (THOMAS) VERT. VISITATION FOR VERLE WILL TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2022, AT 11:30AM AT HILL FUNERAL HOME - 11723 S. SAGINAW STREET, GRAND BLANC, MI.
