Eleanor S. Plumley, age 82 of Thomson, Illinois, died Monday, August 08, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center South in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson with Reverend Paul Fritz from the Thomson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Lower York Cemetery. A visitation will be held 10:00 . 11:00, Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Law, Jones Funeral Home, Thomson.
Eleanor was born on February 10, 1929, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Johnson) Stearns in Newark, New Jersey. She attended York High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. Eleanor worked for the Thomson High School as a librarian for twelve years. She truly loved being able to be a homemaker. Eleanor married Robert L. Plumley on June 22, 1947 in Thomson.
Eleanor was a member of the Eastern Star, WSCS at the Thomson United Methodist Church, Palisades Ham Radio Club (K9IEF), Thomson Depot Committee. Eleanor loved to fish on the river and take long rides with her husband, Robert to make sure the Mississippi was flowing in the right direction.
Eleanor will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert of Clinton, Iowa; one son, Guy (Linda) Plumley of Fulton, Illinois; a daughter, Louise (Frank) Duplissis of Flanders, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Dorsey, Jamie (Steve) Silvest, Stephanie Drey (Timothy Young), Matt (Sarah) Plumley and Frank Duplissis, Jr.; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph (Sherrie) Stearns of Medical Lake, Washington, John Stearns of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; one infant sister and also a sister in-law, Geraldine Stearns
