Don Fitzgerald, 88, of Salina, passed away, Wednesday, May 25, 2022. He was born March 5, 1934 to Elwood and Dorothy Fitzgerald in Fresno, California. He is preceded in death by parents and other family members. Don spent his early years mostly in Oregon and worked at numerous jobs. Later, when he came to Kansas, he met and joined Richard and Francis Esslinger in E & E Home Improvement Co. in Belleville, Kansas. In the mid 70's, they bought Salina Tent and Awning, a long-time business in Salina, Kansas. Don also was part owner and operator of Salina Nut and Bolt Company in Salina and also worked for Electronics of Salina until he retired in 1994. In the late 50's or early 60's, Don lost his wife Joyce and 2 children, David and Carolyn in a tragic accident in Oregon. Don was an active Ham Radio operator and proud of his call sign KA0EIC and was known for Eat Ice Cream. He loved contesting on the radio. He will be missed by a lot of HAMS around the world and many local HAMS. Left to mourn him are his step-daughters, Barbara Milleson (Mike) and Brenda Graham; 7 grandchildren, Eric Graham, Matthew Graham, Ricky Peterson, Amanda Vignery, Nicole Peterson, Terry Vignery, Ciara Peterson; 11 great grandchildren, Trenton Graham, Nathan Vignery, Richard Grawberg, Kimberly Grawberg, Terry Cooley, Michael Majors, Zane Vignery, Silvia Rose Bailey, Noah John Peterson, Grimm Graham, and Andrew Michael Peterson. Also, many, many friends around town and around the world! Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to Kindred Hospice, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S.
