First Call: K1AE
Ralph H. Jannini III, 86, of Andover, Massachusetts, passed on January 1, 2019.
Ralph (also known as .Sookie" to many of us) was born December 30, 1932. Ralph is remembered as a loving man that relished puttering around the house, researching historical events, and above all, keeping things in order He is a person that will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Ralph was the quintessential 50s man, a busy executive, who took his role as provider of home to his wife and children very seriously. Even in his last days he never showed any sign of sadness to anyone, commenting while going to the hospital that there were others much sicker than himself. He shared a quiet smile and on occasion had no qualms being the life of the room.
Ralph loved Sunday dinners followed by family nights watching Disney, a quiet night with a pizza and a movie, or simply reading a book. His later years he enjoyed more quieter times sitting outside, watching the neighborhood creatures and exploring different yard sales. He enjoyed camping, skiing, boating, fishing, and outdoor activities, all which he shared with his family.
A graduate of Manlius Military Academy, he joined the United States Army 45th Battalion during the Demilitarization of Korean War rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant with the Military Police. After military service he joined the Massachusetts State Trooper and assigned special bodyguard to Lt. Gov Whittier.
During this period, he fancied a young woman named Pauline Occhinto and the courtship ensued. Empowered with a new sense of duty after marrying Pauline he focused a career with New England Electric, graduated Bentley College in Accounting, working to the title of Vice President for Lowell Gas Company before retiring at 55.
By all measure Ralph was an ordinary man that led a quiet unordinary life, a goal oriented person that regularly charted five and ten year goals. Ralph always found ways to mix his interests with some form of business.
Even retired, his restlessness prompted purchasing an Amatuer Radio manufacturer (Unadilla Traps Company) and then a number of other smaller communication businesses such as James Millen Electronics, a local childhood business where he would peek in the windows, some 50 years later.
In all, he was a goal driven person who remained intellectually curious about the world we lived in, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Pauline, and sons Ralph Jannini, Mark Jannini and fiance Ann McGowan Caulfield & daughter Lisa and husband Chris Carazzo. Adored grandfather of Karalee & her husband Chase Rochon,Mark Jannini Jr,Justin Jannini,John Jannini, Amanda & her husband Brian Jones & Hope Carazzo. Brother of Ona Hurley.
