Robert D. Elder, age 89, of Liverpool, passed away on Friday at Crouse Hospital. Robert was born in Cleveland, OH, and served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a chief warrant officer.

Upon retiring from the military, he was employed at General Electric in the heavy military division and retired after 20 years of service.

Robert was a member of Liverpool First Presbyterian Church, and for many years was a Ham Radio operator and member of the Wireless Pioneers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Fannie Elder of Liverpool; his daughters, Mary Cavallaro of Liverpool; Helen (Jeff) Lamison of Goshen, NY; grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Kyra; great-granddaughter, Lillian; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool with a funeral service to follow at noon. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
