Chapter 150

I was born in 1939 and have been a licensed funeral director since 1961. I have been retired since July of 2003, after working in a family firm, beginning officially in 1958 when I graduated from mortuary school. When I retired I was co-owner the business with my brother, John W. Thomas. I was drafted into the U.S. Army in October of 1961, as a result of the building of the Berlin Wall. I served in the Republic of Korea as a Sentry Dog Handler from March 1962 until April 1963.
I am pleased to have celebrated a fiftieth wedding anniversary in December of 2011 and have been a Freemason since 1960. Other memberships include Zion United Methodist Church, Cambridge Lions Club, A.R.R.L., Easton Amateur Radio Society and the Delmarva Chapter of the Q.C.W.A.
I earned my Novice license in March of 1979,upgraded to General the following October, and finally in January of 2012 became an Extra. I have had a working station of some description since 1979, but the priorities of working and helping to raise a family created some limitations on hamming activity.
I am living in a condominium but I now have a "shack" in a second floor room above the funeral home, which is only two blocks away. I manage to operate at least a short while almost daily.
I particularly enjoy working Special Event stations, DX, and slow CW.
Other interests are digital photography, my classic 1957 Dodge Coronet, early American History, and helping others.
Anyone wishing to QSL I am good either direct or EQSL
