Leona Pearl Hotchkiss, 94, McKinney, Texas, formerly of Hernando, Fla., died Nov. 19, 2013, at McKinney Medical Center. Mrs. Hotchkiss was born May 14, 1919, in Minnesota to the late Ruben and Helen Crandall and moved here in 1990 from North Carolina. She was a retired executive secretary for American Pharmaceuticals and former member of the Hernando First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and won an award at the Citrus Co. Fair with her ostrich egg carvings. Her family said she was a very caring person, a wonderful mother, and grandmother. Leona also served our country in the U.S. Navy (Yeoman-2nd Class).

Survivors include her children, Gary and wife, Melody Hotchkiss, Irving, Texas, Judy and husband, Kenny Rooy, Florissant, Colo.; step daughter, Nancy (Ron) Lundberg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She lost her husband Allen Hotchkiss June 28, 2006.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be rendered at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, from Florida National Cemetery with burial to follow. The procession will leave the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. -Chronicleonline.com
