He was born on June 23, 1927, in Withee, the son of Mary Ellen (Miller) and Bernard "Bone" Blazer. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Bass during World War II and the Unitrd States Army during the Korean Conflict receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE NO 2809 and was Santa Claus in Globe for years. He was a ham radio operator communicating with others all over the world in emergencies and relaying messages. He loved crafts of any kind such as woodworking and polishing gemstones for making jewelry. Richard leaves behind in loving memory his fiance Lois Long of Globe, AZ; one sister Ardyce Bussard, and nephew David Bussard, one niece Linda Bussard, two great-nephews Dolan and Connor, one great-niece Chloe all of Sparta, TN; and one aunt, the late Florence Blazer of Owen.
