George Weston Swanson, of Minnetonka, born 10-26-1920, passed away peacefully on 9-7-2012 surrounded by his family, at the age of 91. Preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Anna Swanson and brother, C. Howard Swanson. Survived by his loving wife, Alice Swanson; children, Alan (Linda) Swanson, Karen (Karl) Bickler and Rolf (Linda) Swanson; grandchildren, Karin (Jeff), Maija (Jon), Mark, Kurt, Erik and Heidi; great-grandchildren, Weston and Elin; brother, Ralph (Anne) Swanson and nieces and nephews.
George is a graduate of Mound High School, University of Minnesota, served in the US Air Force in the South Pacific during WWII and retired with rank of Colonel USAF RES. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Deephaven, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior, Brainerd Amateur Radio Club (KCØH) and Minnetonka Radio Club and retired from the Personnel Department with General Mills.
Memorial service 11 AM Thursday (9/13) at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior with visitation one hour prior to service at CHURCH. Interment Groveland Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Mt. Calvary Foundation, The Mt. Calvary Bells, and the Salvation Army.
