Arthur J. Ermish, 92, of Nathrop died at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Salida, CO. Oct. 11, 2008. Arthur was born on April 28, 1916, to Albert and Eva Ermish in Rapid City, S.D.
Arthur married his sweetheart, Edith Peterson, on Oct. 15, 1938, almost 70 years ago. Arthur was in United Airlines management for 38 years. He was a lifetime rock hound with an outstanding collection of minerals. He also enjoyed being a Ham Radio operator most of his life. Mr. Ermish taught radio communications during WW II.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Edith of Nathrop; Son David (Sandy) Ermish of Firestone, CO. Daughter Joyce (Richard) Curnow of Seattle, WA.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
We met Art and his wife Edith when we moved here in CO in 1983. Art was a retired engineer. He worked for United Airlines and helped build their first pilot flight simulator. During WW II, Art taught Morse Code to the troops at Ft. Meade in 1941. He gave me his key, a 1942 Vibroplex. Art was a wonderful friend and is missed.
