U.S. Air Force Captain Christopher P. Harewood (Retired), 84, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Conestoga View after a lengthy illness. Born on May 27, 1928 in West Chester, he was the son of the late Christopher P., Jr. and Beatrice (Reese) Harewood. Christopher was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran retiring with the rank of Captain. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Christopher worked for A. I. L. Cutler Hammer / Eaton Corporation. He attended the Worship Center. Christopher was an amateur Radio Operator utilizing his passion to serve people in his community and around the world. He served his community as a volunteer in the following capacities: Boy Scouts of America, The United Way, Head Start, the Lancaster County Office of Aging, and the School District of Lancaster Teen Parenting Program at J. P. McCaskey. In addition to his parents, Christopher was preceded in death by his brother: Jesse R. Harewood. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years: Katherine (Johnson) Harewood; his daughter: Deborah L. Green; his son: Michael K. Harewood; his two grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his sister: Valerie Moultrie; and, his nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
