Arthur R. Hinman, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL, died Saturday, Feb 18, 2012. Art was born on Nov 27, 1925 in Oneida NY, the son of Ralph and Ione Maye Hinman. He was a 1944 graduate of Oneida High School.
Art served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war he graduated from Cornell University and was employed by the Navy in White Oak, Md. While living in Maryland he met his wife, Jean E. Davis. They married on July 29, 1950 in Ithaca, NY Art returned to Oneida in 1951 and became president of the Hinman Milking Machine Company. He and Jean moved to Hummelstown, PA in 1987, spending most of their winters in Punta Gorda, FL until their permanent move there in 2006.
Art was a member of the Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, PA, the Tri-Valley Masonic Lodge in Oneida, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Ziyara Shrine in Utica, the Charlotte Amateur Radio Society in Punta Gorda, Quarter Century Wireless Association in Ft Myers, FL, AARL National Association for Amateur Radio, the DAV Chapter and the American Legion Post in Punta Gorda and the National Model Railroad Association.
Art was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved his family, model trains, planes, cars and ham radio.
