Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the age of 87. Born April 29, 1929 to Mervin Thomas and Maybelle (Crosthwaite) Cote in Jackson County, Michigan. Don was a retired Lt. Colonel for the Michigan Army National Guard. He also went on to work for the State of Michigan as an analyst for the D.N.R. Engineering Division where he later retired. Don was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church and current member of Holt United Methodist Church. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator. Don volunteered for the Military Auxiliary Radio Systems (MARS) in addition to many other ham radio organizations. Preceding him in death were his wife, Gloria Louise (Doleske) Cote; son, Scott Douglas Cote; sister's-in-law, June Dolores Cote and Donna Elaine Cote.
Surviving are his son, Mark Edward Cote; daughter-in-law, Christina Joann Cote (Daniel) Reinhart; grandchildren, Laura Beth (Andrew) Gundlach, Angela Mary (Aaron) Demro, Rose Christina Cote; great-grandchildren, Reuben Scott Gundlach, Jane Marian Gundlach; brothers, Eugene Richard Cote and William Edward Cote sister-in-law, Sandra Sue Doleske (Charles) McIntyre; aunt, Florence Amanda Crosthwaite; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many close family friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Holt United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the in Don's name. To share memories and condolences please visit www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com.
