Marvin F. Klaes, 83, died Friday Oct. 13, 2006 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born April 4, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Charles L. and Julia Rutledge Klaes.On Aug. 16, 1946, he married Mary E. Vance. She died on March 4, 2001. He married Lena Couch-Hawn on Nov. 6, 2004. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour. He was a past district deputy and past Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus. He was an elected delegate to the K of C Supreme Council National Convention and was a member of the Seymour Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He served in the Army during World War II in England and Japan.In 1948, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He started a practice in Madison before moving it to Seymour in 1957 where he worked until his retirement in 1989. He was an original member of the teaching staff of the Gonstad Clinic of Mt. Horeb, Wisc.Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife; a daughter, Stella Klaes-Spray, and a brother, Charles Klaes. Surviving are his second wife; four daughters; three sons; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and a step-sister. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tues. Oct. 17, 2006 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Friends and family may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Voss Chapel in Seymour.Memorial checks may be given to the Klaes St. Ambrose Educational Fund. |
