US Air Force (Retired), Radio-Communications Equipment Maintenance Technician & Certified Occupational Technical Instructor. FCC General Radiotelephone Operator (Commercial, PG) Licensee, and FAA Licensed VFR Single-Engine Private Fixed-Wing Pilot. Electronics Technician Association Certified Electronic Technician (C.E.T.).

Retired from active-duty USAF in SEP 2004. Relocated our entire family from Anchorage Alaska by 4-vehicle convoy via the ALCAN Highway, down to Longview Texas,in July 2012. We have firmly planted ourselves, as of October 2012, in a permanent residence just south of Longview TX, between the East Texas Regional Airport, and the northern shore of Cherokee Lake (Lakeport TX area).

Am presently working as an ETA -Certified Electronics/Radio Technician at a Motorola Radio repair shop in Marshall TX.

I operate primarily VHF & above, but occasionally operate HF bands, for leisure voice contacts and/or contesting. I have recently installed a small dual-band base station antenna array, consisting of a Cushcraft ARX270B dual-band omni, and a Cushcraft dual-band yagi (5 elements on each band) on a rotator, all set at 20' above ground level. I currently do NOT have any of my various HF base station antennas erected or operational at the new QTH, but DO have mobile HF ops available.

Active ARES Net volunteer operator & assistant Net Control operator for local emergency communications nets. Hoping to become active in local EmComm/ARES and SKYWARN public service comm activities for the local community ASAP.

My HF equipment is now an ICOM IC-706MK2G All-Band/All-Mode 160M through 6M Transceiver with an ICOM AT-180 Auto-Tuner both in our home, and in my primary personal vehicle. VHF+ equipment includes several vehicular mounted ICOM IC-2720H Dual-Band (2 Mtr/70Cm) mobiles, and several older generation Kenwood dual-band handhelds (TH-77A & TH-79A).

I and my son KL2CD each also have APRS (position reporting capability only), in our primary personal vehicles, using an ICOM IC-02AT handheld and a Byonics TinyTrak4A module in each vehicle.

We now have all but one of our four family members licensed as HAMS. Our family inventory includes me, KL7BX, my wife Barbara / KL7BL, and the oldest of our two sons, Brandon / KL2CD. The remaining son, Jeremy, is away attending college in Reno, Nevada, and sadly has little or no interest in HAM radio. His loss.

Hope to have a QSO with you over the air, soon! 73 ! ! Thanks for the interest in my Bio.
