Peter J. LaPlante Sr, 84, passed away on Oct. 26, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born in Seattle, Wash., to Arthur and Emma (Lindquist) LaPlante. He married the love of his life, Marlene, on Jan. 29, 1955. He and Marlene eloped to Kenai, Alaska.
They lived all over the state of Alaska, living many years in Cordova. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 28 years. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing and photography, including having a dark room for many years. He also liked to build model airplanes and was always into the newest electronics items. He could take apart anything and put it back together. He also enjoyed being a ham-radio operator: KL7WE.
He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Emma LaPlante; his sister, Leone Langmead; and his daughters, Elizabeth and Suzanne LaPlante.
He is survived by his son, Pete (Staci) LaPlante; and his daughters, Anne (Steve) Sleighter, Vicki (Bob) Elliott and Brenda (Roy) Mahan; his grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Nicholas, Steffanie, Michael, Kelsey and Makayla; and his great-grandchildren, Constance, Angie, Remy, Marcus, Sophia, Chloe and Jaxson.
A memorial was held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Legal Funeral Home in Wasilla, Alaska.
