PLAISTOW, N.H. - Robert O. Hofland, 77, of Plaistow, N.H.,died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following an extended illness.
Born in Pierre, S.D., son of the late Oscar and Alice (Steffurd) Hofland, he was raised and educated in Racine, Wis., graduating from Horlick High School.
Following his college education, Mr. Hofland was employed as an engineer at Raytheon Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Hofland enjoyed operating his ham radio with call sign K01C.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Kaisler) Hofland, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Louann Hofland of Centre, Alabama, a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and James Sollis, of Forestdale, MA, a sister Patricia Stein of Arizona, three grandchildren, Erin Sollis, Brian Sollis and Lauren Sollis. ARRANGEMENTS: There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hampshire SPCA, P.O.Box 196, 104 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham, NH 03885.
