GOSHEN – Walter M. Horvay, 88, passed away on July 17, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Henrietta C. Horvay of 47 years (566 months). He was born on Aug. 24, 1932, in Torrington, son of the late Susan and Paul Horvay, Jr. Walter attended Torrington High School and Bentley College. He was an accounting supervisor for Brunswick golf for 10 years, retiring in 1994. He was a past treasurer of the Goshen Historical Society, Waterbury Chapter National Association of Accountants, Torrington Gun Club, Connecticut State Rifle and Revolver Association, Royal Palm Chapter QCWA, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Torrington and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cornwall. Walter was a past president of CQ Radio Club, Royal Palm Chapter QCWA, Breguet Shore Association, Torrington Rifle Club, past district emergency coordinator for Region 5 Amateur Emergency Service, American Legion Post #46 Lamson/O’Donnell and ARRL Amateur Radio. Walter was in radio for 40 years and loved Morse code. Walter was drafted into the Army during Korean conflict, Feb. 16, 1953. After 16 weeks of infantry basic, he was assigned to finance corp in Heidelberg, Germany and served as disbursing specialist and administration at headquarters area command finance and accounting unit.
