A funeral Mass for Father Mark S. Ebert, pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Park Hills and administrator of St. John the Apostle Parish in Bismarck, was celebrated Nov. 9 at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in St. Louis. Father Ebert, 71, died Nov. 3. Born in Saint Louis, Father Ebert attended St. Louis Preparatory Seminary-South, Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1976 by Cardinal John J. Carberry. Following ordination, he served as associate pastor of Holy Family Parish in south St. Louis. He was named associate pastor of St. Sabina Parish in Florissant in 1977, Immaculate Conception Parish in Union in 1982, Sts. John and James Parish in Ferguson in 1983 and St. Norbert Parish in Florissant in 1988. He was appointed as pastor of St. Bernadette Parish in Lemay in 1994 and St. Simon the Apostle Parish in Green Park in 2003. Father Ebert was appointed senior associate pastor of Holy Infant Parish in Ballwin in 2008 and as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Park Hills and administrator of St. John the Apostle Parish in Bismarck in 2010. Survivors include a brother, Eric Ebert, and two sisters, Kris Scharfenberger and Kathy Nelms. Burial was to be in Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Park Hills at a later date. |
