CHILLICOTHE - James Morgan Lasley, 68, of Chillicothe, Iowa, passed away on November 28th, 2017 in University of Iowa Medical Center Iowa City, Iowa. He died of complication to congestive heart failure.
James Morgan Lasley was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on March 29, 1949. He graduated from Eddyville High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor.s Degree from Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State.
Jim was married to Shari Crandall on March 3rd, 1978; they were married 39 years.
Jim retired from 3M as an IT Technician. He immensely enjoyed Ham Radio where he served in weekly nets transmitting messages and served as the Iowa Section manager for the American Radio Relay League. Jim was serving as the current Mayor of Chillicothe. He was also actively involved in serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a Stake (Regional) Financial Auditor and as a temple ordinance worker in the Nauvoo Temple.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shari; nine children, Morgan (Melissa), Pete (Emily), Beth (Wade) Lee, Sam (Amber), Shannon (Kyle) Griffith, Amy (Michael) Turley, Guy (Allison), Gordon (Rachel), Ginny; sixteen grandchildren, his cousin Doris Noland, and other family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother; Wally, Virginia, and Dennis.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 303 East Rochester Ottumwa, Iowa. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
