Great Falls native William M. Reddish, 68, died of cancer Sunday, May 1, 2011 at his home in Sherman, Texas.
His family has donated his body for research to the UT Southwestern Willed Body Program. Cremation will take place, and his ashes will be spread on the family ranch in Montana.
Bill was born Aug 27, 1942, in Great Falls, MT, to Mike and Agatha Wolf Reddish.
Bill attended school in Belt, MT., where he grew up on the family cattle and wheat ranch. After graduating from Montana State University in 1966 with a degree in mechanical technology, Bill worked in Great Falls for the Anaconda Co. and its Wire and Cable Division as a production supervisor and plant engineer, while also serving in the Montana Air National Guard.
Bill was transferred to Greenwich, CN, where he served as an environmental engineer; he was then transferred to Sycamore, Il, and Harrisonville, MO, for the Anaconda Ericsson Co. as plant engineer and production manager. In 1987, he joined General Cable Co. in Tampa, FL, as plant engineer, and then moved to Sherman, TX, in 1992 to join their facility in Bonham, TX, as manufacturing engineer manager. In 1997, he joined MEMC in Sherman as maintenance supervisor. He retired in January 2002.
Bill was a gifted mechanic and engineer who loved cars, fly fishing and dirt bike riding in his home state of Montana. He owned several Corvettes, including a 1964 model that he fully restored. He was also an avid home brewer, making excellent India Pale Ale.
Bill was licensed as an amateur radio operator in 1958 as K7BXZ and at his death held the call sign N1BAZ, Extra Class. For several years he taught amateur radio to local Boy Scouts. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Sherman.
