Robert G. Kenney, husband to the late Elsie C. Kenney, was born in Concord, New Hampshire on July 6, 1931.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as flight radio operator during the Korean War and was awarded the honor of "Airman of the Month". He received a BS from Southern Connecticut State University and an M.S. Degree from Western Connecticut State University, later receiving a second M.S. Degree from SCSU.
Entering the field of education from a sale and broadcasting background, he was a classroom teacher for 15 years and then a counselor for 15 years, retiring at the age of 68 to become a public speaker and seminar leader. In 1989 he was awarded the honor of "Counselor of the Year" by the Connecticut School Counselors Association and in 1994, while serving as a counselor, was awarded the honor of "Teacher of the Year" by Litchfield Public Schools.
Survivors include a brother and sister and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, Arkansas would be appreciated.
Private burial service will be at New Milford Cemetery.
