Norman P. Forest, 93, a sixty year Springfield resident, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. He was born in Fitchburg on October 10, 1924, a son of the late Arthur and Beatrice (Borgeous) Forest.
Norman served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was stationed in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines.
He was a graduate of Fitchburg State College receiving his Bachelors and Masters Degrees and achieved sixth level to his doctorate at Rensselaer Polytech, Colby College, and Brown University.
He was a Ham Radio operator with the call sign N1PF, signing off for now.
He taught physics and math at Technical High School and later at Central High School.
He is survived by his son James Forest and his wife Julia of Maryland, two daughters, Carolyn Forest of Framingham and Joan Drozdal of Agawam, three grandchildren, Andrew Drozdal, Emily Forest, and Haven Forest.
He was predeceased by his wife Millie (Magnuson) Forest.
Services with military honors were held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill Street, Springfield, MA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
