Mangano, Dominick 4/5/1928 - 11/16/2019 Grand Rapids loving husband and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Anna Alesci-Mangano of Hackensack, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Gauss-Mangano, daughter Annalee (David) Myers, son Carmen Charles (Patricia) Mangano, and grand children Evan Donald (Elisabeth) Myers, and Jordan David Myers.
After high school Dominick enlisted into the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge after serving for four years.
He received his B.A. in Chemistry and Masters in Industrial Relations from the University of Maryland. During his time at Marbon Chemical he helped develop the plastic formulation for LEGOs.
At Baxter Labs in Kingstree, South Carolina, Dom worked on the team that created the plastic bags we use today for IV solutions.
Dom transitioned into the pharmaceutical industry and was the Quality Assurance Director for Pharmacia North America in Piscataway, New Jersey. During his tenure at Pharmacia he was responsible for creating specialty solutions for ocular and uterine surgeries.
Dom enjoyed traveling, gardening, maintaining a vineyard, wine making and ham radio operating.
He was a member of the Rotary Club and Amateur Radio Operators of America.
He was a long time parishioner of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in East Millstone, New Jersey.
For the past two years he resided at Sentinel Point and Sunrise Senior Living in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301 on Friday, November 22. Rev. Leonard Sudlik, presiding.
