Mr. Ray Joseph Cornay, Jr. died May 1, 2007 at age 76. He was born January 17, 1931, Lafayette, LA, to the late Ray Joseph Cornay and Katherine Lyman Cornay.A
Mr. Cornay is survived by his wife of fifty years, Merrill LeBlanc Cornay; his five sons (and their wives): Ray J. Cornay, III (Sherry), Frederick J. Cornay (Julie), Frank S. Cornay (Kathy), Robert L. Cornay (Melissa), and H. Michael Cornay (Beth); and nine grandchildren.A
Mr. Cornay was graduated with a geology degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. First a geologist/pilot for Standard Oil Company, Mr. Cornay relocated his family to Newnan as an Eastern Airlines Captain. He retired to ranching and working as a bailiff for the Coweta County court system.A
Mr. Cornay was an Air Force veteran whose other accomplishments include serving two terms as a Newnan City Alderman and being elected a union officer of the Air Line Pilots Association. He was a certified aircraft accident investigator, a licensed amateur radio operator, the chairman of the Coweta-Fayette Boy Scout district, and a Masonic Grand Master.A
