Mr. Robert E. Walker, age 94 of Mountain Home passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at Gassville Living and Therapy.
Robert Walker was born May 31, 1918 in Eldorado, Kansas to Ernest and Mary (Grosshauser) Walker.
He married Ella Mae Mattingly on January 8, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas. He later married Virginia "Ginnie" Carpenter on February 23, 2008 in Mountain Home. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home.
Mr. Robert E. Walker graduated Eldorado High School, May 1936. He joined the US Navy March 1937. He was a veteran of the China-Japanese War in WWII, and was honorably discharged in October 1946. Mr. Walker worked as a Gas and Electric Co. Engineer in Wichita Kansas for 37 years. He developed and designed the companies' first 345,000 volt substations. He was a charter President of Wichita toastmasters club #3255 and a member of Masons #225. He moved to Mountain Home after retiring in June 1983. He held offices in Ozark Amateur Radio Club and participated in Arkansas MARS
Mr. Robert E. Walker is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginnie" Carpenter Walker of the home, one daughter, Penny Lynne Gandy (Scott) of Wann, Oklahoma. Also surviving is a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ella Mae Walker, and one sister, Mary Morgan. .
