Elmer G. Chrisman
Born May 28, 1919 Elmer joined his wife Doris, son Larry and daughter Jeannie on January 19, 2011. Elmer married his one and only sweetheart, Doris Marie Fromm on December 15th, 1939. They raised three children, Larry, Richard and Jeannie. Elmer and Doris enjoyed their first years of retirement traveling the world and enjoying many years with their motor home. Elmer (Buzz) Chrisman lived life to the fullest. He came to the Santa Maria Valley during the late 50's because the valley was growing and he wanted to leave the big city to raise his family.
Elmer joined the Army, transferred to the Army Air Corp due to his ham radio hobby. At the end of his enlistment he worked as a machinist. After that, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy where he traveled to the Philippines in support of World War Two. After the war in 1946, with two children, he changed jobs to the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco). Elmer loved being the Nabisco Cookie Salesman for 35 years.
Elmer is survived by his son Richard Chrisman and wife Joyce; 8 grandchildren, Rick Chrisman, Derek Chrisman, Regina Hoosier, Jody Coffey, Jimmy Lewis, Gina Ferguson, Tammy Shiffrar and Suzanne Winovich. 19 great-grandchildren, Emalyn, Joshua, Arianna, Jessica, Kyle, Aiden, James, Taylor, Carsen, Theo, Henry, Zakary, Cassidy, Philip, Jacob, Austen, Andy, Mary and Michael.
He will be missed by all whom he touched in his life.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 9:30 am at Santa Maria Cemetery with Dennis Russell officiating.
