Chapter 7
|
Edgar Ward Brown, 70, born on September 13, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away October 15, 2012. He resided in Sylmar, California at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.
I first met Edgar while working with him on the board of the Southern California DX Club in the mid 80s. I was impressed with his confidence and cheerful friendly nature. Throughout the years I realized that what I initially observed was in fact at the core of his character. Even in tough situations Edgar always maintained an even keel. If you ask anyone of the amateur radio operators that knew him I am sure they will echo the same sentiment. It was always a pleasure to see him. He was always an encouragement and an example of how to live a positive and product life.
Edgar always had something interesting to say and his advice was genuine. A few years ago I took over his position as Technical Coordinator for the ARRL Los Angeles Section. I had concerns that he was still interested in the assignment and that I might not be up to the task. I gave him a call and it was like old friends who talked everyday. He instilled in me the confidence that I could do the job and encouraged me to step up.
We will miss him in the pile ups. We will miss him at the meetings. At the conventions we will always remember you. At the QCWA dinners we will sorely miss your fellowship and conversation. We had many good memories and great times.
Our prayers go out to you Irene and your family during this time.
