Jo Ann, Steggerda 10/23/1933 - 12/15/2017 Sterling Heights, MI Jo Ann "Jodie" Steggerda, age 84, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017.
She is survived by her children: Reverend Daniel Scott Barnum-Steggerda and his wife Reverend Lucinda Barnum-Steggerda, her daughter Marian "Molly" Steggerda; her two grandsons: Evan Barnum-Steggerda and Joel Barnum-Steggerda; her siblings: Susan Galt, John and Carol Davidson, Kenneth and Mary Davidson; her sister-in-law Kay Davidson and several nieces and nephews. Jodie was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Susan Davidson, her husband Frederic Steggerda and her brother-in-law Robert Galt.
Jodie served on the National Laboratory Animal Care Advisory Committee, she was a Bronze Tablet Student at the University of Illinois, she served as a docent at John Ball Zoo, she was a supporter of the National Psoriasis Foundation and a supporter of the heritage and theology of the United Church of Christ.
In Jodie's own words: "I leave this wonderful life of mine with great appreciation for the love I have received from my parents, my exceptional and devoted husband, my siblings, my children, my grandchildren, my relatives, my ministers and my dear friends, near and far, especially Cynthia, Elizabeth, Jane, Judie, Sue, Nancy, John, Obie, Bill, Marje and Mac and Sue, old neighbors, Jim, Joe and all my friends at Freedom Village in Holland, Henry Ford Village in Dearborn, at the University of Illinois, in Pi Beta Phi, my Mah Jonggers, and especially my Ham Radio friends (N8ALJ) and last but not least, all my beautiful cats." "I have been proud of my accomplishments, of my travels and adventures, and of help I have given to people and animals along the way. Most of all I am aware of the great joy of every single day in our glorious world here on earth in my beloved United States of America. Goodbye, knowing we shall all meet again in God's beautiful Heaven."
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2018. Memorial contributions may be given to Pi Beta Phi Sorority, 1005 S. Wright St., Champaign, IL 61820 or the American Radio Relay League, 225 Main St., Newington, CT 06111.
