It is with great sadness that we at the Wireman, INC announce the passing of Pressley Jones, N8UG, "The Wireman", on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018.
We are thankful for his dedication and contributions to the Amatuer Radio community for over 45 years. He was a great teacher and speaker with his one-of-a kind approach to communications, and a down to earth mentor.
Our dearest friend for over 34 years, he will be greatly missed.
73 & Rest in peace!

I originated on Kelnar7 in the Geldonian System, and became interested in Amateur Radio while studying for my degree in napkin folding. But when I discovered that the entry-level Kelnar license required a CW speed of 8,300 words per minute (the best I could manage was 7,700), I decided to Teleport. I enjoy Earth immensely : the low surface gravity, the widely available assortment of scent-free laundry detergents, and, on a hot summers day, a nice cool dish of soft-crab sherbet, covered with vanilla extract. I think the only thing I really miss from Kelnar is our highly developed information technology, especially mimeograph machines and carbon paper. In my spare time (besides ham radio), I like to sit quietly and try not to think of a monkey taking medicine, and I also enjoy river widening projects.
