Chapter 126

Hello and welcome to my QRZ page.
I learned my electronics and radio initially by serving as an Avionics Technician (radio repairman) in the U.S. Air Force in the early 80s. I worked on B-52 and KC-135 HF, UHF, and VHF radios. I got my first ticket as a Novice in 1983 with KA4NHK. I upgraded to Tech in 1986 while stationed in Mississippi.
After that, I focused on software until the spring of 2015. Now I have my Extra class license and enjoy all aspects of ham radio.
You can see from my simple shack setup that I have started small. For a base station, I use an Icom IC-7600, MFJ 939I tuner, and an Alpha Delta DX-CC fan dipole about 30 feet off the ground.
For VHF/UHF, I use a Kenwood TM-V71A or a Baofeng GT3 HT.
For mobile/remote, I use an Icom 706MkIIG and LDG IT-100 tuner.
I'm dabbling in packet and you can see more info at http://tarpn.net.
I'm still looking for a favorite HF band. So far, I roam 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m looking for new contacts.
Thanks for stopping by,
73,
Fin
