Funeral Services will be celebrated Thursday, September, 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for John Raines Myrick, Jr. 79, who passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette.
Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 8:00 am until the time of services, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.
A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ken David on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 6:30 pm.
Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Father Howard Blessing, of Holy Cross Church in Lafayette, will officiate.
John was born July 21, 1935 in Hammond, LA and was a resident of Acadiana. In 1957, John graduated from Southeastern University of Louisiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Chemistry. He worked as an Engineer for Western Electric Co & AT&T for thirty-five years.
He was active in his community and was the Eyeglass Chairman for the Lafayette Lions Club. John was a lifetime ham radio amateur, licensed as NQ2V. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family and friends.
John is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Betty Morgan Myrick of Lafayette; two daughters, Marion Raines Myrick and husband, Frederick James Bradford of NJ, Margaret Alison Grow of Duson; son, Thomas McIntosh Myrick and wife, Karron of Maidens, VA; four grandchildren, Dr. Laura Lee Grow of Vancouver, Canada, Evan Raines Bradford of NJ, Brandon Myrick of VA, Rachel Kent Myrick of VA; brother, Bruce McIntosh Myrick and wife Rosalie of Independence, LA; and sister, Dean Kent Benko and husband, Ron of Hammond, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raines Myrick, Sr. and Emily Corrine Guess Myrick.
