NS5F Larry D. 'Jay' Glazier McKinney, TX QCWA # 36830 Chapter 114

Slinging RF 'Around The Planet' Since 1970...

NS5F "Jay"

"Nothing beats the rosy glow of tubes in the shack at night"

After spending a number of years on 11 meters from the mid thru late 60's I finally got my ticket in 1970. My previous calls were WN0DVL, WD0ANO, N5GNZ, and after FINALLY passing the 20 wpm CW requirement, now licensed as NS5F. The technical skills I learned in Amateur Radio played a major role in my 40+ year career in broadcasting as air talent (Top-40/Rock), Chief Engineer, commercial voice work, and Broadcast Audio Consulting.

My favorite operating mode is Phone especially the unbeatable quality of good old fashion Amplitude Modulation followed by SSB. My primary station is a FLEX 5000A driving a pair of 3-500 or the Index Labs Super Senior paired with a vintage receiver. I am usually operating in the AM Window on 75 meters before sunrise weekday mornings.

I enjoy collecting, restoring and operating vintage tube rigs and several friends have accused me of having "Receiver Fever" as I just can't seem to keep 'lonely receivers' from following me home. My other 'passion' is vintage broadcast mixing consoles and vintage audio processing equipment
