Laing Thomas Batchler, 74, born in Kingston, PA in 1942, passed away in Cape Coral, FL and joined his sons at the gates of our Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2017. He is preceded in death by his two sons, Laing T. Batchler III and Timothy Thomas Batchler, his daughter-in-law Stephanie Batchler, his brother Clark Pryor, his sister Carol Pryor Frail, his son-in-law Mark Quinn along with his parents Laing T. Batchler and Elizabeth Bach Batchler.
Laing is survived by his wife of 45 years Virginia (Ginny) Batchler, his children Gini Lea Quinn, Lori Ann Overfield (Robert Overfield), Larry Kunkle (Colleen Kunkle), Ken Kunkle (Renee Kunkle), Carrie Batchler, his granddaughter Jessica Batchler whom he and Ginny raised, and Brett Ford who claimed them as his honorary parents. Laing and Ginny had 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Laing served as an Electronic Technician for 10 years in the US Navy (1960-1970) and 23 years in Civil Service at Tobyhanna Army Depot (1983-1986) in PA and Picatinny Arsenal (1986-2006) in NJ.
Laing was an avid model railroad enthusiast and had a double decker 12' by 12' model railroad set up in his garage. His passion was with ham radios; he belonged to the Fort Myers Amateur Radio Club in Fort Myers for the past 8 years (call sign NT4TS). Laing was also a member of the Free Masons Pocono Lodge #780; the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite in Allentown, PA and the Noah Masonic Lodge #357 in North Fort Myers, FL.
Laing (or Pappy, as his grandchildren called him) was also affectionately known as the Trash Heap (ref. Fraggle Rock) for all of his wisdom and advice. He was revered by many for his knowledge about radios and was a ham radio elmer to Tim Bennett.

A memorial service will be held at the lodge at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Noah Lodge #357, 41 Willis Rd, North Fort Myers, FL 33917
