Erwin Thomas "Tom" Brooks, 86, passed away peacefully at his Klamath Falls, OR, residence with family at his bedside.

He was born on Jan. 21, 1921, in Faulkner, SD to Frank and Laura (Kingsley) Brooks. Tom was their fifth child and only son.

He married Leila Grings in 1942 and later that same year joined the Army and was sent overseas to fight during World War II. Tom spent the next three years in the European Theater of Operations before the war ended and he was honorably discharged.

For a short time, he had his own radio and TV repair shop in Montana and later went to work for the FAA, spending the next 30 years in various places until his retirement in Klamath Falls.

Tom was a member of several radio groups and was licensed by the FCC since 1940 as an amateur radio operator with the present call of NV7N. He was also a member of the American Legion as well as being an active member of St. Mark's Anglican Church.

In 1992, he married Carolyn Burgdorf on March 14 in Reno, NV.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and his four sisters.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Brooks; stepchildren Terry Cline, Chase Cline and wife Ginny, Judy Chase and husband Jim, and Ed Burgdorf and wife Christy; five step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at 1 p.m. in Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd with Bishop Bob Baker officiating. Final resting place will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery at a later date.
