Joan has worked in the technical side of commercial broadcasting at CFBC, Saint John, NB and CFRB in Toronto, ON. In amateur radio she held the position of president, plus other executive positions for Nortown ARC-Toronto; VP of the women's ARC, The Ontario Trilliums; worked with the Radio Society of Ontario; secretary, later president of the Canadian Amateur Radio Federation; president of the Ottawa ARC; worked with the QSL Bureau and the Radio Amateurs of Canada; secretary to the QCWA Chapter 70; and has been active in the planning of QCWA International conventions. She was the recipient of the Albert Yates award presented annually in Toronto as having done the most for amateur radio and was written up in QST (August 1979). July 4, 2013 |
