A. Roy TAYLOR of London and formerly of Stratford, passed away in his sleep at Victoria Hospital on Monday, June 22, 2015, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Mae (nee Landers) Taylor with whom he celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. Devoted father of Jim and his wife Rose of London, Jean and her husband Mark of Huntington Beach, California, and Ron and his wife Heather of London. Dear brother of Lillian Mann of Minden and predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Jansen and Eileen Smith. He is lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jonathan, Melanie, Amanda, Samantha and Matthew and by his great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Roy served as a radar mechanic in WWII, and at 86 published a memoir of his wartime experiences. He was a board member and volunteer at the Secrets of Radar Museum in London. He was active in amateur radio as VE3AHY. A lifelong civil servant, he retired from the Post Office in 1980 and pursued interests in steam trains and international travel. He was a founding member of Westview Baptist Church in London and a member of the Canadian Legion (Byron).
A private burial has taken place. A celebration of Roy's life will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church, 1000 Wonderland Road South, London.
