Donald Wilcox - January 22, 1944 - Tuesday, December 25, 2018
The family of Don Wilcox sadly announces his passing on Tuesday, December 25. 2018 at the age of 74. Don proudly served the Coast Guard Cutter Halfmoon assigned as a Radio Operator. and toured the East Atlantic from Argentia, Newfoundland to Varadaro, Cuba. On his eighth tour to Bermuda he met his wife Lorna and they were married in Calgary the following year, spending 52 years together.
He became an amateur radio operator and built his own radio at the age of 13, starting as WAGMKB and ending with his silent key of VE6CG.
Don was the Chief of Radio Communications at the Canmore Nordic Centre for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
He leaves behind his wile Lorna; son John (Hope); daughter Bev (Donald) and grandchildren Brian, Alisha, Sylvia, Geoflrey, and Hailey. Missing him also are Big Rock (Rocky) the Yorchi and Kokanee the cat.
