CHRISTENSEN, Peter Friis
October 6, 1935 . January 29, 2018
Peter Christensen passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 29, 2018, at South Health Campus, at the age of 82 years. Peter was a kind and generous man who loved a good story with a happy ending. He made the world a better place and will be fondly remembered for his wonderful ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met.
He spent his early years in Dorval, QC where he began his hobby as a Ham Radio operator, collector and builder. His radio skills were put to great use as a volunteer during the 1988 Calgary Olympics. He loved all genres of music, especially tunes created and performed by his favourite artist and son. His other interests included cars, collecting antique radios and researching Denmark - his heritage.
He never tired of celebrating and regaling the many accomplishments and unique talents of his children and grandchildren.
In Montreal, Peter launched his 27 year career at IBM. He was fortunate to be able to work in an industry that mirrored his passion for technology, communication, electronics and innovations. Peter relocated with IBM in 1984 to begin a new life in Calgary.
In retirement he enjoyed cruising the world with Doreen his wife of 52 years.
Peter will be deeply missed by his many life long friends. He leaves behind his wife, Doreen (Small), and three children Brenda (Ed), Allan (Tricia) and Brian (Jennifer). Peter's grandchildren, Alexander, Kayleigh, Emily, Nathan and Clara, were his pride and joy. Despite numerous health struggles Peter's life was indeed a happy story with a main character who loved a good joke and enjoyed life to its fullest every day.
