REIDFORD, Norman George 1919 - 2012
It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Reidford announces his passing at the age of 93 on Monday, August 20, 2012. He is survived by his sister, Florie of White Rock, B.C; children: Diana (Peter) Simpson, Sharon (Bob) Heise, Beverley (Rick) Theroux, Wayne (Donna) Reidford, grandchildren: Gregory, Kerri-Lynn, Jennifer, David, Deanna, Melissa; great-granddaughter Maxine. He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle (1990), brother Stanley, and sisters Bella and Lillian.
Norm served as an Officer in the Canadian Air Force during World War II. He married Myrtle in 1946, and returned to Edmonton, where he was born and raised. Norm worked for the family business, Airport Greenhouses, until he retired at the age of 67. One of Norm's greatest passions was being a HAM operator (VE6NR), which he avidly pursued from the age of 14 into his late 80's.
Norm was very grateful for the care, kindness and friendship which he received at Rosedale Griesbach and the Palliative Care Unit at the Edmonton General Hospital. A formal Liturgy will be held at the Anglican Parish of Christ Church, 12116 - 102 Avenue at 1:30 p.m. on August 25, 2012. Interment and reception to follow at Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton.
